How Does Forex Work on IQ Option.
We are glad to present your attention the best automated Forex trading software , which brings a whole new level of the buying of one currency and the simultaneous selling of another .
Getting Started with Forex Trading.
Not familiar with Forex yet? Well, get comfortable, we’ve got a lot of ground to cover!
What you really need to know about Forex.
Essentially, Forex is a liquid market of currency pairs that react to global news, events and economic policies. Generally, FX is being traded in specific amounts called ‘Lots’ . Most common are the standard lots which are the equivalent of 100.000 units of currency . Not everyone has an account big enough to buy or sell $100,000 worth of a currency and so you can use leverage , i.e. borrow from the broker in order to trade $100,000 when you do not have $100,000 in your trading account. When using leverage , the capital is lent to you when you open the trade, but you do not actually see this money go into your trading account. You do, however, see the effects when your trade is open, because each pip movement has a greater value, allowing for greater potential profit or loss.
The maximum leverage a.k.a. multiplier IQ Option offers is 1:300 . *
Selecting the multiplier.
Now, let us clear things up by giving you an example :
Investor A used a leverage of 1:2 meaning that each dollar invested would act as if it was 2. ($50.000 x 2 = $100.000) Investor B used a leverage of 1:20 ($5.000 x 20 = $100.000)
You might be wondering whether you can wind up owing a large sum of money to IQ Option, as the position you opened takes a wrong direction? You might also be scared of losing your funds in hidden fees and poor exchange rates, aren’t you?
Indeed, Forex trading can be very risky and volatile. But the good news is that with IQ Option you cannot lose more than the amount of your initial investment . That is by far the biggest advantage of IQ Option over other Forex brokers. By the way, if you are planning to start trading Forex with IQ Option, you may also want to take advantage of the free reloadable $10,000 Demo account that we offer. With the Demo account, you can trade with virtual money for free and get a better idea of the trading as well as the platform and services.

Hi, i just want to find out. Why is there an x1000 leverage available yet you say the maximum leverage is x300?
It depends on the volatility and the market situation. Please, kindly wait.
Hi, Just wonder, is there any time limit if we use multiplier / margin ? (i.e 10 days or else)
There is no time limit on multiplier ?
Does the leverage work in the demo account? It does not seem to work… Also how do you reload the demo account?
Sure it does bro , click on the deposit tb.
Yes, it does work on demo. You can refresh your demo right here: http://prntscr.com/eutf1k, though only up to 10000. Have a wonderful day and great deals!
I’m very sorry to say this doesn’t work. I applied a multiplier of x200 but didn’t get the respective returns. The profits were absolutely normal and did not have the multiplier effect.
Hello Adarsh, thanks for update!
Let me share with you the way Profit and Loss are counted in Forex trading.
1) The formula for long positions: (Closing price / Opening price – 1) * multiplier * investment.
2) The formula for short positions: (1-closing price/opening price) * multiplier * investment.
Please note, that Multiplier is in direct correlation with profit amount.
In case you have a query about one particular trade, please kindly contact us via [email protected].
My colleagues will investigate your case carefully.
I wish you a great day, Adarsh!
I didn’t see any benefit of leverage amount as per your video too at the last of blog. Invested $100 by putting leverage of x50 But after profit of 30% user gets the profit from the actual amount he/she invested. There seems no role of leverage amount as losing and benefits going through actual amount invested then please clarify me the concept of this multiplier.
I will tell you the way the multiplier works and the way it affects your potential profit and risks.
The multiplier in IQ Option is an analogue to a leverage in standard Forex Trading. The multiplier is an amount, to which your initial investment is multiplied so that you could trade with a much bigger amount that you invest. For example, when your initial investment is $100 and you use a 300 multiplier, you will trade with the amount $30 000 and you will get profit from investment $30 000, not $100. The multiplier multiplies the potential profit e.g. if your multiplier is 50 you should get 50 times more profit based on your investment. For example, if your profit with initial investment is $30, with multiplier 50 it will be $1500.
So, the multiplier is provided by the broker and gives a trader an opportunity to earn more profit.
Why it increases the risks? In IQ Option the deal is automatically closed when it reaches 95% loss of the initial investment. It is not a stop out as a trader can lose only the amount of investment in a particular deal.
Let’s say a trader makes a deal with $100 of investment without leverage. Let’s say that one pip of the asset A costs $1. In this case, a trader will lose 95% of the investment ($95) if the price changes for 95 pips in the opposite direction. So, a trader’s automatic close is 95 pips away from the current price.
Now, let’s say a trader makes a deal with an initial investment of $100 with a leverage 50. So, total investment is $5 000. In this case one pip will cost 1 x 50 = $50. So, a trader will lose 95% of initial investment (95$) if a price changes for 1,9 pips in the opposite direction. So, in the case of leverage 50, the position will be automatically closed in loss 1,9 pips away from the initial price.
That means, that when a trader uses the leverage they should be confident that the asset is not highly volatile and that the price will only go according to the supposed direction.
Are there any risk in using leverage ? If I’ve invested 50x 1000 and if I lost the trade will I lose $50 or more ?
You may use the multiplier as the analog of the leverage on IQ Option platform. Let me kindly inform you that multiplier is a risky instrument (especially such a high one as 1000). You should be sure that the price will go in the predicted direction otherwise you have a risk to lose the whole investment in a short time. Please note that according to our policies, you are not able to lose more than you have invested (both in CFD and Forex).
Hi I went to tell stop loss &take profit when I trade I don’t seen that.
Thank you for reaching out to us, Moha. We’d like to clarify the inquiry and help you enjoy the app. We kindly ask you to contact us at [email protected] to look deeper into the matter. Thank you!
Is this applicable to any registered trader in iqoption? For example i entered in 1 trade for 40 usd and set 100% profit with multiplier of 300, and i hit my 100%, should i get 12000usd profit is that right? Or if i enter 1 usd and set multiplier in x1000, i could get 1000?
“For example i entered in 1 trade for 40 usd and set 100% profit with multiplier of 300, and i hit my 100%, should i get 12000usd profit is that right?”
Yes, if the price doubles up, you will receive $12000.
I think there is a difference if price doubles up and setting profit to 100% . If I set profit to 100% I will only get $80. Right.? Can you clearly provide some more information about this.? Thank you.!
Yes, that’s right .
From the above does it mean if I traded with only 1% of my capital but leveraged it probably to be equal as my full capital and the trade went against my favour I will only lose 1% of my capital( amount used as initial investment) not the entire 100% of my capital?
According to our Policy, you will never lose more than your investment amount. So, if you have invested, let’s say 10 USD, and you have used the multiplier, you will not lose more than this 10USD even if your prediction turns out to be the wrong one.
Hi…if I invest in forex on a Monday for example…and I watch the trend not to my favour…can I wait till Friday before market closes hoping fir a favourable clise or will the platform IQ close my position after some time? This is assuming I dint set any take profit or stop loss.
Hello! Thank you for your question! Let us kindly tell you that you should set take profit and stop losses levels before opening the deal as it is a part of the procedure. You may set a high level of take profit (more than 100%) if you are sure the price of the asset will rise to the level set. You may keep your position on Forex for as long as you want until the losses will reach 95% as according to our Policies, you may not lose more than the amount of your investment. If you have further questions, don’t hesitate to ask! We wish you a great trading and a happy New Year!
I just practise on demo account and i do not get any profit using multiplier. For example i enter 100$, set multiplier 50, price grows 10% and i get 10% of 100$ which is 10$ when i should get much more. I wonder why.
Hello, Krzysztof! Here I send you the formulas that you may use in order to calculate your future profit. FOREX Net Profit LONG (when you click Buy): (closing price/ opening price – 1) * multiplier* investment SHORT (when you click Sell): (1 – closing price/ opening price) * multiplier* investment.
If you have any issues or questions, please contact our support by hotline, email or live chat in your trade room (https://iqoption.com/en/contacts) and we will do our best to help you. Thank you!
Thank You but refering to that i have to say that the description on the platform is wrong, becouse it says that everytime price changes by 1 % i get 1% of investment *multiplier. As i mentioned when i invest 100$ with multiplier x50 and price grows 10% i should get 10$*50 which is 500$ instead of just 10$.
You may check all the formulas in our Terms&Conditions: https://iqoption.com/en/terms-and-conditions/order-execution-policy-global You may also contact our support specialists and we will help you calculate your profit. Thank you in advance!
Is there any time limit for forex positions also? I was holding 6 positions on Forex which got automatically closed in the evening and turned a loss for me. Please help for as i am a new player in this field.
Hello, Ravi! According to your comment, it seems that your positions were closed according to the Stop Loss level. Let us tell you that at the moment you open a position you should set Take Profit and Stop Loss levels (I have made a screenshot of where you can find it: http://prntscr.com/i2r65u). As long as the graphics don’t reach the setup levels, your position will be opened unless you want to close it manually. If you have certain questions concerning your particular case, kindly contact our support by hotline, email or live chat in your trade room (https://iqoption.com/en/contacts) and we will do our best to help you. Thank you!
I’m not able to deposit money in iq option. Can I know how to deposit money in this.i have tried visa, neteller and skill even though I’m not able to do that.
Hello, Sai! We are very sorry for the inconvenience! Kindly try to deposit using your PC instead of the mobile app as it might solve the issue! If the issue occurs, kindly contact our support by hotline, email or live chat in your trade room (https://iqoption.com/en/contacts) and we will tell you the reason for the decline. Thank you!
Why is my account only have a maximum multiplier of x50? Is it because of the currency I deposited in?
Hello there! Thank you for your question! Could you please tell us what country are you from? We will provide you with a relevant information right away. Thank you in advance!
Hello, please I’ve been using iq option for a while now (demo) and my multiplier has never worked, my profit isn’t usually doubled, i get the profit of my original investment instead.
Hello James, thank you for your comment! Let me show you how multiplier works, so you will see that it affects your profit.
1) The formula for long positions: (Closing price / Opening price – 1) X multiplier X investment.
For example, AUD / JPY (Long) that was opened on 27.06.2018:
Closing price: 85.142 Opening price: 85.131 Multiplier: 2000 Investment: $2500.
We get: (85.142 / 85.131-1) X 2000 X 2500 = $646.06.
2) The formula for short positions: (1-closing price/opening price) X multiplier X investment.
For example, AUD / JPY (Short) that was opened on 27.06.2018:
Closing price: 85.142 Opening price: 85.173 Multiplier: 2000 Investment: $2500.
We get: (1-85.142 / 85.173) X 2000 X $2500 = $1.819.82.
So as you can see, without multiplier profit would be less significant. You should always keep in mind that Multiplier may increase Risk as well, as it may cause Autoclose of your deal at -95% level.
I hope it is more clear now? Let us know if you need more information on this matter.
Hi, I think I understand how the multiplier works when an asset goes in your favour, but please do tell, does the multiplier work the same way when an asset goes against you?
Again I need to ask, since you said the multiplier tests solely on market conditions and volatility, say now I’ve opened a position when the multiplier was 1000, then as the market runs the multiplier also changes subsequent to market conditions, does my position retain the initial multiplier it opened with or does it change to the new and lower multiplier?
Hi Tumelo I need a friend I need to talk to about forex and financial markets, strategies and all kinds of things. Please let me hear from you after getting this mail.By the way my name is Thabo I’m from JOHANNESBURG.

At what time I should expect tighter spread on EUR/USD currency pair, because most of the times the spread is way too wide on this pair even both of this currencies are much active.
Hello Mokame Fidler, thank you for your comment! Please note that on our platform spread can vary and it only depends on the market situation. Anytime before opening a deal, you may check the spread for current asset here: http://prntscr.com/kkpqy9 After that you will have a clear understanding whether you want to enter to market. We are constantly trying to provide traders with perfect trading conditions, let us know if we can do something else for you! IQ Option Team.
Is the ‘initial investment’ you might lose – the amount you placed on the trade or your whole account balance?
In this article we understand trade amount by your “initial investment”. Hope it’s more clear now!
